ScreenSlider and ScreenSlider Pro FAQs
Q: How much does ScreenSlider and the Pro in-app upgrade cost?
A: ScreenSlider's list price in the Android Market is $1.99 USD (currently on sale for $.99 USD). The ScreenSlider Pro in-app upgrade has a list price of $9.99 USD (currently on sale for $4.99 USD). The PC Windows ScreenSlider client app is free. You must first have ScreenSlider installed on your Android device to enable the free 30-day Pro in-app upgrade trial or to purchase the Pro in-app upgrade. When you click the "Buy Pro" menu option within the ScreenSlider Android app you will have an opportunity to see the current price on the Android Market shown in USD or in your preferred currency before committing to purchase.
Q: I've installed the PC and Android apps but the two devices can't see each other in the "Find Devices" (PC) or "Connect To" (Android) menus.
A: Make sure that you enable Wi-Fi on your Android device and that the ScreenSlider for Android app is running on your device with the screen turned on,
Q: I've installed the PC and Android apps but the two devices, enabled Wi-Fi on my Android device, but the two devices can't see each other to start a connection.
A: In order for ScreenSlider to function properly both your PC and Android device need to be on the same Local Area Network (LAN and subnet). Your PC can be connected to the network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet but must stay on the same LAN and subnet. This should not be a problem for home use (and for some small businesses too) especially if you only have one wired/wireless router in the home or office connected to your incoming Internet connection (Cable modem, DLS modem, etc.). If your PC and Android device can not see each other on a complicated home network or in an office environment, please ask your IT administrator to see if both devices are on the same LAN and subnet.
Q: I've verified that My PC and Android device are on the same LAN and subnet but still can't see each other to start a connection.
A: If you your PC and Android device are on the same LAN and subnet but still can't find each other, please contact your IT department and ask them to enable Broadcast, UDP and pear-to-pear networking on your router. Most out-of-the-box Wi-Fi routers that small business use already have this enabled and will allow ScreenSlider to operate correctly but some highly secured routers may have these options disabled.
Q: Will ScreenSlider work at my office/school if both devices are on the same LAN and subnet?
A: Most likely but it may require your IT department to tweak some settings: ScreenSlider uses Broadcast and IDP packets for discovery and some corporate and school Wi-Fi networks block this type of network traffic. If you your PC and Android device are on the same LAN and subnet but still can't find each other, please contact your IT department and ask them to enable Broadcast, UDP and pear-to-pear networking. Most out-of-the-box Wi-Fi routers that small business use already have this enabled and will allow ScreenSlider to operate correctly but some highly secured routers may have these options disabled.
Q: Can I use ScreenSlider at a hotel or cafe HotSpot?
A: Not likely: ScreenSlider uses Wi-Fi Broadcast and UDP packets to discover and connect. Hotels and HotSpots are public access networks and in most cases block all traffic from one node to another.
Q: Why do I get a dialog box saying the program could not use the Celio driver?
A: The ScreenSlider PC app installs a video driver that is used to create the second screen. On some machines with specific configurations and video cards, this driver cannot operate correctly. If you see this dialog box Screen Slider will attempt to still function by using GDI calls to just make a copy of your main screen, it will be slow and will not be the correct resolution. Please contact us at
support@celiocorp.com and give us details about your system. One of our development engineers may contact you for more information.
Q: I checked the "Mirror Desktop" box in the Windows app settings but when I try to start a ScreenSlider session, nothing happens.
A: While in Mirror Desktop Mode mode, your main PC monitor must be set to a resolution of 1280x768 or lower. If your monitor is set to a higher resolution, ScreenSlider will fail to connect.
Q: Why does my browser not work?
A: All browsers should work with Windows XP and Vista. Currently IE 9 and Firefox 9 do not work with Windows 7. Older versions of those browsers will work with Windows 7 as will all versions of Chrome. This is a known bug and will be fixed in a future update.
Q: Will ScreenSlider work with my Kindle Fire?
A: Android devices without access to the official Android Market (like the Amazon Kindle Fire) are not supported at this time. We plan to support the Kindle Fire by posting ScreenSlider in the Amazon Appstore sometime in the future.
Q: How many PCs can I connect my Android device to using ScreenSlider at the same time?
A: ScreenSlider will only maintain an active session with one PC at a time. You must disconnect from one PC before connecting to another PC.
Q: Do I need to pay for ScreenSlider on a monthly basis?
A: No. You only need to pay for the ScreenSlider Android app and ScreenSlider Pro in-app upgrade once. There are no reoccurring monthly fees and as with all Android apps you can re-download and install it for free if you activate another Android device using the same Google account used for your original purchase. The ScreenSlider PC companion app is free and you can install it on as many PCs as you'd like. You do NOT need to pay for new, existing, or renewed licenses and you are NOT permanently limited to a certain number of PC licenses.
Q: Why does the PC ask to be granted a license when connecting for the very first time? And what is the licensing policy for ScreenSlider all about?
A: Each time you initiate a ScreenSlider session between an Android device and a PC for the very first time, you are asked by the Android device if you'd like to grant a license to that PC. That license lasts for 30 days and then is automatically renewed if you connect to that same PC after the initial 30-day period. You can only maintain temporary licenses for 5 PCs at a time. However, this does not mean that you are limited to only connecting to 5 PCs permanently. When one license expires, a slot is open to connect to another PC. In theory, you would have to wait a maximum of 30-days after connecting to 5 PCs before one of the PCs drops off the list (license expires) and a slot is opened up for a new PC. This policy is not intended to limit your personal use of ScreenSlider but rather to prevent overuse in large businesses. PLEASE contact us if you have questions about the licensing policy. Also please contact us if you have a need to connect to more than 5 PCs in any given month as we can address requests for additional licenses on a case-by-case basis then grant more licenses if needed. Again, the intent is not to limit your personal use of ScreenSlider at home, at work, or at other locations.
Q: Why is does my Android device just show an image of two red Android robots behind a metal mesh pattern?
A: This is the screen you see on your Android device when the Android ScreenSlider app is running but not connected to your PC. On your PC, left click on the REDFLY ScreenSlider "R" logo in your PC's system tray and choose "Find Devices" or connect to a previously paired device.
Q: Will video from my PC play on my Android device while connected to ScreenSlider?
A: Yes, however video frame rates and quality will vary depending on the speed of your Wi-Fi network and the size of the video window playing on your Android device. On average, video performance will be lower compared to an external monitor connected to a PC via a VGA or other physical cable.
Q: What is the difference between ScreenSlider and ScreenSlider Pro?
A: ScreenSlider functions much like a secondary monitor attached to your PC. ScreenSlider Pro also functions like a second monitor but adds the ability to touch your Android device's screen to interact with your PC apps and content.
Q: Do I need to download or install a separate app on my PC to use ScreenSlider Pro?
A: No. The ScreenSlider app on your Windows PC is the same for ScreenSlider or ScreenSlider Pro.
Q: Do I need to download or install a separate app on my Android device to use ScreenSlider Pro?
A: No. All ScreenSlider Pro features are switched on via an in-app purchase from within the standard ScreenSlider app.
Q: Can I try the ScreenSlider Pro features before purchasing the in-app upgrade?
A: Yes. All copies of ScreenSlider include a free 30-day ScreenSlider Pro trial. The free trial is not enabled by default but you can activate the free trial at anytime by launching the Android ScreenSlider app, pressing your Android device's "Menu" key and choosing, "Try Pro."
Q: How to I tell if I have the Pro version or not?

Q: Does ScreenSlider support iPad or other iOS devices?
A: Not at this time.
Q: What mobile operating systems are supported?
A: Most Android smartphones or tablets running Android version 2.2 or higher will work with ScreenSlider. A tablet with Android 3.0.1 or higher is recommended for the best experience. While Android 4.x (Ice Cream Sandwich) has not been tested or officially supported yet, it has been reported to work by some users).
Q: Which PC operating systems are supported?
A: Windows XP (32 bit), Windows Vista (32 bit) and Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit). Mac OS, Windows 8, and Windows 7 Starter Edition are not supported at this time.
Q: Will audio from my PC play on my Android device while connected to ScreenSlider?
A: Not at this time.
Q: Will ScreenSlider work over a 3G/4G connection?
A: No, currently ScreenSlider only works over Wi-Fi. Your Android device and PC must also be on the same local area network (LAN) and subnet.
Q: Can I use ScreenSlider to connect my Android device at home to a PC in my office or another remote location?
A: Not at this time. Currently both your Android device and your PC need to be on the same local area network (LAN) and on the same subnet in order to communicate with each other.
Q: Can I use the Android built-in keyboard and/or speech-to-text feature to type into a PC text box while connected to my Android device?
A: Yes, if you have enabled the ScreenSlider Pro 30-day free trial or purchased the ScreenSlider Pro in-app upgrade. Use your finger to click the mouse cursor into a text box on the PC app then press the "Menu" button and chose "Keyboard" to pop up the keyboard. Press the back button (if your Android device has a back button) or the downward facing triangle button (on the bottom of most Android 3.0.1 or higher tablets' displays to dismiss the keyboard when done. Press the microphone button on the Android keyboard to activate the speech-to-text option.
Q: Can I use the Android device's touchscreen to control my PC?
A: Yes, if you have enabled the ScreenSlider Pro 30-day free trial or purchased the ScreenSlider Pro in-app upgrade. ScreenSlider Pro supports a number of touch-based gestures including pinch-to-zoom, pan, scroll, and right/left mouse clicks.
Q: When I try to run ScreenSlider in Mirror Desktop mode, I get an error saying, "ScreenSlider failed to initialize the virtual display driver." and/or the mirrored display on my Android devices looks strange.
A: Currently Mirror Desktop Mode only works properly when your PC's primary display resolution is set to 1280x768 or lower. Please close the ScreenSlider session, change the PC's resolution settings, and then start a new ScreenSlider session.
Q: Will using ScreenSlider impact my Android device's battery level?
A: Yes, since your Android device's display and Wi-Fi radio are both in constant use during a ScreenSlider session with a PC, your Android device's battery level will drop faster than normal. Most Android tablets have a large battery permitting extended use with ScreenSlider. However, Celio Corp recommends keeping your charger nearby in case the need arises to charge your battery.
Q: Why did previous versions of ScreenSlider ask for permission to see my email?
A: It never asked for permission or could read your email. Previous versions did however ask to tell what type of file was attached to an email. As of the latests release, ScreenSlider no longer asks for any email or attachment permissions. Older versions upon installation asked permission from the Android OS to obtain the file type of email attachments. This feature is currently not in use (we turned it off in the current release) and was included in previous versions to test for a planned feature update in the future. ScreenSlider cannot ask for and never had access any actual text within an email. It didn't read, capture or use any text contained within any emails or attached documents - it only was able to determine the type of attached file (PDF, .doc, etc.) and then tell the Android OS it was capable of opening those types of attachments. This is the same type of permissions requested by any of the Android Office apps, Photo editing apps, or PDF Reader apps - amongst others.
