REDFLY™ Installation Instructions
Installing the phone driver from your computer
To install the REDFLY phone driver to your phone you will need:
- Your phone
- Your phone device's USB connecting cable
- A PC with an active Internet connection
- Microsoft ActiveSync (or Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista) installed on the PC
- Download the cab file appropriate for your phone. If you are not sure which cab file to choose, please read this or check the Tested Smartphones list to determine the OS version of your phone.
- Read the End User License Agreement, enter a valid email address, click I agree and choose Continue.
- Check your email for the link from no_reply@celiocorp.com and select the link to download the file to your PC.
- Run ActiveSync (or Device Center) on your PC.
- Power on the phone and connect it to your PC using your USB connecting cable.
- ActiveSync (or Device Center) will automatically find the phone and say Connected.
- Copy the REDFLY cab file from your PC to your phone using ActiveSync or Device Center.
- On your phone, locate and click on the cab file to begin.
- Follow the onscreen instructions on your phone to complete the installation.
Note that your phone will automatically restart following the install. Please remember to upgrade the firmware following the phone driver install.
Installing the firmware update from your computer
To update the REDFLY firmware you will need:
- Your phone
- Your phone's USB connecting cable
- Your PC with an active Internet connection
- Your REDFLY with its AC adapter
Note: Please ensure your REDFLY device is plugged into its power adapter before beginning the update. If your REDFLY battery dies during the firmware upgrade process, the device may not function properly.
- Click the Download button for the REDFLY firmware.
- Read the End User License Agreement, enter a valid email address, click I agree and choose Continue.
- Check your email for the link from no_reply@celiocorp.com and select the link to download the firmware file to your PC.
- Run ActiveSync (or Device Center) on your PC.
- Power on the phone and connect it to your PC using your USB connecting cable.
- ActiveSync (or Device Center) will automatically find the phone and say Connected.
- Copy the REDFLY firmware file from your PC to your phone using ActiveSync or Device Center
- If you have already installed the phone driver, then connect your phone to the REDFLY with your phone's USB connecting cable.
- Your phone will now be rendered on the REDFLY screen. Using File Explorer, locate the firmware cab, and click on the cab file to begin.
- You will receive a warning message that the program is from an unknown publisher. Click yes to accept the program to continue.
- Accept the default choice to install the Celio Corp Firmware Update to Device and click Install on the left soft key button on the bottom on the screen. This will install the firmware agent to your ohone. Click OK to move to the final step.
- An informational message stating that the REDFLY firmware agent will update the REDFLY with new firmware will appear. Select Next on the bottom right soft key to continue. The REDFLY screen will now blank and transfer the process back to your phone.
- A version verification screen should display on your phone, showing the new firmware version. Click "Next", the phone will attempt to connect to the REDFLY. A progress bar should now appear on the REDFLY unit upon connecting. Do not power off the REDFLY while the firmware is updated.
- Upon completion of the firmware update, the REDFLY will restart. Click "Next" on the successful installation screen on your phone. Leave the USB cable connected. The REDFLY will automatically restart and your phone should automatically connect to the REDFLY.
If you wish to use Bluetooth to connect to your phone, select the REDFLY menu key on the bottom row of the keyboard and that will take you directly to the Bluetooth tab in the REDFLY settings application. Alternately you can reach it by navigating from Start > Settings > System > REDFLY Settings. Select the security setting you prefer and click Authorize.
